John, I've been an underdog most of my life. I'm used to tough fights, and that's one reason I know I can beat the odds, defeat Ted Cruz next year, and be the first Black senator from Texas. But it's going to take a powerful grassroots movement, and I hope you'll chip in today to be a part of it. →

When I was growing up in Dallas, spending my afternoons at the YMCA while my mom worked a second job to make ends meet, absolutely no one would've bet on me one day earning a full football scholarship to Baylor or playing in the NFL.

The same thing was true in my first election – no one really gave me a chance. I was running against a 22-year incumbent in a red district, and two months out from Election Day, polls had me down 10 points.

I kept fighting because I knew my district – the place where I grew up – was ready for change. I spent hours and hours talking with voters, listening to the issues that kept them up at night, which were the same ones my family and I worried about. I fought like hell, and when all was said and done, we shocked everyone and won that race with 52% of the vote.

I know we can do it again this time around. We're already better off than we were in 2018 – polls show me just 5 points behind Ted Cruz with 14% of voters undecided. But reaching those undecided voters in every corner of the state over the next 15 months is going to take a lot of resources. That's why I'm personally asking:

Will you please chip in $5 or more right now to help me reach my $50,000 midnight goal and make sure we have the resources to take on Ted Cruz? We know his special interest backers will spare no expense, and we've got to be prepared to fight back against everything they throw at us. →

Every time I beat the odds, whether I was fighting to make it to the NFL or to win a tough congressional race, I was able to do so because I had a lot of supportive people by my side. Thanks for being in my corner this time around.

Colin
