Recently, the FDA approved a birth control pill for over-the-counter sale. That means that anyone, of any age, will soon be able to purchase oral contraception without a prescription from a doctor.

That removes a huge hurdle to birth control access for many folks, who might not have the time or resources to go see a doctor for a birth control pill prescription.

Now, though, the next question we have to ask is: How much is this going to cost?

Currently, insurance companies are not required to cover over-the-counter medicines, meaning this could be an entirely out-of-pocket cost. The pill’s manufacturer hasn’t yet announced the price of the drug.
