Hi
John,
Our coalition work uses the power of our organizational voice and positioning to support values-aligned campaigns.

Here’s what we supported in the month of July:

The March to End Fossil Fuels. This will be a mass demonstration in New York on September 17th calling on President Biden to take bold action to end fossil fuel production and expansion.

We’ve worked to hold the administration accountable since they took office, and we’ll continue to do so by supporting this direct action on Sunday, September 17! Learn more about the March to End Fossil Fuels. ([link removed])

The Campaign for a Safe and Healthy California. We’re early endorsers of this campaign, which is led by environmental justice organizations. It will bring together activists to defend against Big Oil’s attempts to overturn SB 1137, California’s setback law, on the November 2024 ballot. SB 1137 will implement a 3200-foot buffer zone between oil drilling and sensitive sites like homes, schools, and hospitals. Learn more about the Campaign for a Safe and Healthy California. Many BCAction members took action with us to ensure SB 1137 was passed, and this powerful, protective legislation was hard won. It’s no surprise Big Oil has spent millions of their windfall profits to subvert democracy – and we won’t stay quiet about it.

The Metastatic Breast Cancer Access to Care Act. It is URGENT that we do better for people living with breast cancer. This important legislation calls for a waiver of the 24-month waiting period to obtain Medicare coverage, and the 5-month waiting period for Social Security Disability Insurance benefits, for eligible individuals with metastatic breast cancer. We’re proud to back these campaigns and legislation in our ongoing work toward the goal of creating a world without breast cancer.
