Hey John, I just got off the phone with Lauren to review our July numbers and share some not-so-great news: We missed our end-of-month goal by exactly $2,028. We even made a decision near the end of the month to send a few more emails hoping for enough grassroots donations to put us over the top. The truth is, we knew not everyone would donate. It would be unreasonable to expect grassroots supporters to chip in every time we ask — we get that! Lauren reminded me that she knows our team and that we have always come through when it's mattered most. And I agree. This was just a fluke. But we can’t start coming up short on fundraising goals this early in the race. We’d basically be giving Republicans a message that IL-14 is an easy target to flip. A surge of grassroots support will immediately help us get back on track for the quarter. We need to raise at least $2,028 over the weekend, so I’m hoping you can pitch in. So, John, will you donate $5, $10 or whatever you can to help us catch up on our goal? That way I can head into my next meeting with Lauren and tell her that our team came through for her once again.
