I was proud to help get the PACT Act over the finish line last year to live up to our promise to our veterans and their families. As the daughter of a World War II veteran and prisoner of war, I know that wounds of war take many forms and that we must continue working to improve veterans’ health care. 

The PACT Act includes benefits for thousands of service members and their families exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange, and other toxic substances. In order to receive these benefits, veterans must apply through the VA.

There’s no deadline to apply for PACT Act benefits. But if you file your PACT Act claim — or submit your intent to file — by August 9, 2023, you may receive benefits backdated to August 10, 2022. So don’t wait, apply today!

I look forward to President Biden signing my legislation to modernize our transplant system.

This week, my bipartisan legislation to upgrade our organ donation system to help save lives and improve patient outcomes was sent to the president’s desk to be signed into law. Organ donation is an incredible medical feat that has enabled doctors to save thousands of lives all across our country – we owe it to patients and their families to ensure it is effectively managed.

My legislation creates a competitive bidding process to manage the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN), which matches donor organs with patients waiting for transplants.

The July jobs report shows our economy is bouncing back!
