The August District Work Period began this week, and I am grateful for this time to spend in our community before Congress returns to session in September. Here are a few highlights from the week:

I was honored to welcome several groups to our district office this week to get updates about the wonderful work that is taking place across the district. I met with the Evermore CID, Sugarloaf CID, Lilburn CID, United Way of Greater Atlanta, and the Atlanta Community Food Bank. Our community is privileged to be served by so many thoughtful, progress-oriented leaders.

School is back in session! On Wednesday, I visited Meadowcreek Elementary School to spend some time with our young people on their first day of school. Thanks to the help of WeLoveU volunteers, we were able to hand out over 900 new bookbags to students. I send my best wishes to all students for an amazing year ahead!

The Chattahoochee River Act became law at the end of last year. On Thursday, Senator Ossoff and I teamed up to celebrate this legislative accomplishment and talk with local leaders and federal partners about what this new law-the first of its kind-will do to protect our community's most precious natural resource.
