URGENT ACTION NEEDED: Help STOP rampant plastic pollution that’s decimating our oceans and our planet! Add your name now! >>
As you're reading this email, a helpless dolphin could be mistaking plastic waste for food like squid, causing a severe blockage in its fragile digestive system and KILLING THEM. At this very moment, a baby sea turtle could be thinking a piece of plastic is food like jellyfish, getting stuck in its tiny throat and CHOKING TO DEATH.
More than 100,000 whales, dolphins, seals, and turtles are caught in an estimated 640,000 tons of discarded fishing gear and plastic annually.
Innocent animals are becoming entangled and suffocated by the rampant plastic debris that’s consuming our oceans, and OVER A MILLION marine animals are KILLED BY PLASTIC every year. We cannot let greedy Big Plastic continue threatening our precious oceans and harming the beloved wildlife who call it home. Please, Friend, our oceans need your voice to call for immediate federal action on the plastic crisis before more marine animals DIE. Will you step up today and help save helpless dolphins and sea turtles from the PLASTIC APOCALYPSE before it’s too late?
It only takes ONE single piece of plastic to KILL a sea turtle. The odds aren’t looking good for these beloved sea creatures given that an entire garbage truck’s load of plastic is currently dumped into the ocean every MINUTE.
Meanwhile, 25% of the world’s dolphin species are listed as SEVERELY THREATENED and at high risk of EXTINCTION. One study found that plastic pollution like fishing gear is the NUMBER ONE threat to marine animals — KILLING more than 300,000 dolphins, porpoises and small whales every year, not to mention numerous other species!
Big Plastic and their friends at Big Oil aren’t just threatening marine life either, Friend. Plastic production at their gigantic factories spews out large amounts of toxic pollutants and global-warming emissions into our atmosphere, disproportionately leaving nearby low-wealth and BIPOC communities to bear the brunt of the serious health risks.
Greedy plastic corporations have wreaked havoc on our Earth for far too long, Friend. Don’t you think it’s time that we hold Big Plastic and Big Oil accountable for threatening our oceans, people, and planet — all for the sake of profit? If you agree, then we’re asking you to step up right now and sign our petition by 11:59 P.M. TONIGHT. We still need 3,011 more activist signers if we’re going to make an impact. ADD YOUR NAME: Tell President Biden to take federal action to STOP plastic pollution while there’s still time to curb this environmental crisis! >>
Your voice is critical to ending plastic pollution.
