Hi John.
I know many folks are having a hard time with higher costs these days. The cost of gas, groceries, housing, and more is making it tough for a lot of people.
My job is to serve you, regardless of party. So today, I wanted to pass along a quick update with resources that may help you and your family.
I’m pushing for concrete and bipartisan solutions to get costs down. That includes voting to cap the cost of insulin and to reduce our dependence on foreign oil. In the meantime, please know that my team and I are always here to serve you however we can.
Feel free to forward this message with anyone you know!
• Lower Costs for Kansans: Our updated web page at davids.house.gov/lowercosts is here to help you and your family. You may be able to find cheaper local gas stations or find resources for credit card bills, mortgages and rent, surprise medical bills, taxes, prescription drugs, and so much more.
For example – did you know that you have up to three years to claim a past tax refund? Or that a new law I voted for is providing homeowners with tax breaks to make their homes more energy efficient? Please visit davids.house.gov/lowercosts for much more.
It’s important to me to stay connected with you. I was glad to meet with folks in Bonner Springs and Overland Park this week in my latest Sweets with Sharice to answer your questions.
• Help for Veterans: I was honored to work with Republicans and Democrats to pass the PACT Act into law. This new bipartisan law is ensuring 5 million veterans who were exposed to toxins can get the health care they deserve. Now the law is being implemented – and help is here to ensure local veterans can get the assistance they need.
If you or someone you know needs help, a PACT Act Veterans Benefits and Resource Fair at the Lenexa VA is happening on Monday, August 7th, from 2:30 to 5:30 PM. Please click here to learn more about it.
My mother served in the U.S. Army for 20 years. I learned so much about service, sacrifice, and dedication to country through her. After all our Servicemembers and Veterans have done for us, we must have their backs.
• : My team is also continuing to hold more Pop Up Office Hours throughout the Kansas Third District. This way, we can be in more convenient locations to serve you in your own neighborhood. If you need help with stalled tax refunds, Social Security, veterans’ benefits, and more,
Our next Pop Up is in Paola on Tuesday, August 8th from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM. We’re also having another Pop Up next week on Thursday in Ottawa. We hope to see you!
We’re here to serve you. If you can’t make it to an upcoming Pop Up, please feel free to call us to get help right away.
I know it’s hard for many people right now. Thankfully, we’re also seeing some key improvements we can build on. Our economy created a record breaking 13 million jobs over the last two years. We’re also seeing progress locally. Panasonic’s new battery plant in De Soto means thousands of new, good-paying jobs.
To keep moving forward, I’m focused on concrete and bipartisan solutions to lower prices. My priority is building an economy that works for everyone, especially for folks in the middle- and working-classes.
That’s why I pushed back against drug companies by voting to let Medicare cap insulin prices at $35 a month and negotiate for lower prescription drug prices. I also served as a negotiator to pass a major, bipartisan manufacturing law that supports U.S. manufacturers so we can make more computer chips in America. Now we’re seeing the results, with a surge of factory construction across the U.S.
I’m always here for you, regardless of party. You can always visit davids.house.gov/lowercosts to find resources for you and your family. You can also contact me to ask any questions.
My warmest regards,
Sharice L. Davids Member of Congress
