Friend,

My top priority is hearing from Iowans from all walks of life and bringing their stories with me back to Washington to advocate and find common sense solutions to the issues facing Iowans every day.

This week, I visited six counties across the district on my 22 County Tour and hosted a roundtable with the Select Committee on the CCP on the threats China poses to American agriculture and our food security.

From meeting with small business owners, answering Iowans’ questions at my in-person town halls, to hearing Iowa farmers’ firsthand experiences with the CCP’s brazen ag IP theft and bad business practices, it was a great kickoff to our third 22 County Tour of the year.

I will continue to be accessible to every Iowan I serve and hear your feedback so I can be your best advocate in Congress. Read on for more on my stops this week and work for Iowans!

Best,

Chickasaw County Town Hall Meeting

I held an in-person town hall meeting in New Hampton and answered questions on reining in out-of-control spending, pushing back against electric vehicle mandates, and protecting American farmland from the CCP.

Charles City Rotary

The Charles City Rotary Club’s motto is Service Above Self! I’m grateful for their dedication to improving the community and for their hospitality. Thanks for having me!

Cargill Protein

Cargill Protein processes over 155 million pounds of egg annually for patties, quiches, and more! I enjoyed touring their facility, discussing the importance of stopping Prop 12 through my EATS Act, and learning about their high quality products.

Butler County REC

Butler County Rural Electric Cooperative provides electricity to more than 5,000 Iowans! I stopped by their headquarters in Allison to hear more about their services and commitment to putting the community first.

Hardin County Town Hall Meeting

Thanks to everyone who joined my town hall meeting in Eldora! I will continue to hold town hall meetings in every county in our district to hear from Iowans and answer questions.

Hen and Chicks Studio

Heidi Kaisand turned her passion into a wonderful small business that brings joy to everyone who walks through the door! This week, I had the opportunity to tour Heidi’s Hen and Chicks Studio, hear about her passion for collaboration with other local businesses, and how she persevered through challenges like the pandemic and inflation.

Select Committee on the CCP:

Tama County Roundtable

Yesterday, I was honored to host the Select Committee on China's Chairman, Mike Gallagher, and Ranking Member, Raja Krishnamoorthi, in Tama County for a discussion about the CCP’s continued efforts to undermine American agriculture and control the global food supply through persistent IP theft, supply chain chokeholds, and deceptive trade practices.

We cannot continue to allow the CCP to steal our intellectual property, buy up our farmland, and rip off our farmers and rural manufacturers.

Iowa feeds and fuels the world, and I’m proud our Iowa farmers were able to provide their perspective to the Chair and Ranking Member of the committee. I believe it will make a difference and help the committee develop a meaningful policy blueprint to protect American agriculture, the global food supply, and our national security. Watch the full hearing here.
