John,
Members of the House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force sent a letter to Speaker McCarthy yesterday, pleading to take up votes on gun violence prevention legislation ‘as soon as possible.'
Despite the majority of Americans supporting common sense solutions – like an assault weapons ban and expanded Brady background checks, our lawmakers have failed to pass gun violence prevention legislation and the American people are paying the price.
Our nation’s need for action is growing increasingly desperate: There have been over 420 mass shootings already this year, putting our country on track for its deadliest year. Gun violence is the number one cause of death for our kids. 117 people are shot and killed every day.
Still, Congress has failed to take action.
This carnage is preventable, John, but only if our lawmakers finally listen to the continuous calls for change from gun violence prevention champions in Congress, President Biden, and the American people. We can make our voices louder than those of the gun lobby, but only if we speak out all together.
That’s why I’m asking you to get loud and fortify the task force’s call to action: Congress must pass gun violence prevention legislation as soon as possible. Add your name to our urgent petition and demand action from our lawmakers. >> [[link removed]]

We know that the majority of Americans want common sense gun safety legislation.
We cannot let our public servants stand idly by while the gun violence epidemic continues to worsen and more Americans die every single day.
With your help, we can make our call to action impossible to ignore.
