Irving, TX - Happy Friday! I spent this week home in North Texas, meeting with constituents and getting ready for our 2023 North Texas Job Fair on Monday, August 7th at the Irving Convention Center.

On Monday, I had a great meeting with Ventana, a senior living community in Dallas. We toured their facilities and then sat down for a roundtable.

After, I sat down with Gary Kelly, the former CEO and current Chairman of Southwest Airlines. We discussed the upcoming 2023 North Texas Job Fair and their need to hire more employees. Southwest Airlines hired 20,000 people last year alone. I'm looking forward to having Southwest hire North Texans at our job fair on Monday!

On Tuesday, I went to Lewisville and toured Global Medical Response, which is the world’s largest provider of medical transportation services. We sat down for a roundtable to discuss NATCOM, their National Commander Center.

Up next, on Wednesday, I started off my day by working a shift at RaceTrac in Grapevine! RaceTrac will be at our job fair on Monday, looking to hire at least 50 North Texans.

Later in the week, I had the pleasure of joining the Grapevine Rotary Club to provide updates on my work in Washington, talk about our upcoming job fair, and more!

REMINDER: We have more than 375 employers with 15,000 job openings and dozens of elected officials confirmed for our upcoming 2023 North Texas Job FairBe sure to sign up at www.myNTXjobs.com and join us on August 7th at the Irving Convention Center.

Texas-24 Work of the Week

This week, I helped introduce the Build the Wall and Fight Fentanyl Act. Since President Biden took office, there have been more than 5 million illegal border crossings, over 1.5 million "known gotaways" who have escaped into our country's interior, and Texas has seized over 422 million deadly doses of fentanyl, which continues to poison our community.

This bill dedicates assets confiscated from drug traffickers and other criminal organizations to funding two priorities: building the border wall and fighting the fentanyl epidemic. I'm committed to finding real solutions to combat the border crisis, protect Americans, and get this deadly drug off our streets.

TX-24 Veteran Commendation

The Congressional Veteran Commendation has been created to honor the distinguished veterans around the country and in TX24 and to preserve their stories for future generations of Americans.

Texas-24 Hometown Hero

On June 15, 2023, Addison Police Department Officers Daniel Gutierrez and Mark Meraz responded to a call regarding an injured person. When they arrived on scene they found a man bleeding excessively from his arm after getting cut with glass. Officers Gutierrez and Meraz quickly placed a tourniquet on his arm while they waited for paramedics to arrive.

The wounds were severe and the man lost an extensive amount of blood due to his injuries. The tourniquet application by Officers Gutierrez and Meraz saved his life while waiting for paramedics to arrive on scene. The Addison Police Department recently honored them both with the Preservation of Life Award.

Thank you, Officer Gutierrez and Officer Meraz, for going above and beyond to protect and serve North Texans!
