My work in TX-31 and Congress Howdy Texan – It’s been a great first week of the August district work period. I wanted to take a moment to update you on my work in Congress and our community. ON THE DOCKET: New USDA Laboratory TX-31 Health Care Supporting Central Texas Farmers & Ranchers THE BRIEF: Prices at the pump in the U.S. hit an eight-month high this week — boosted by the increased cost of crude oil as producers slash output. An overwhelming majority of Americans say that the southern border is either in a state of crisis or a "major problem," according to a new poll released this week. The U.S. Federal Reserve raised interest rates to a 22-year high on Wednesday as it continued its fight against rising inflation. USDA RIBBON CUTTING In 2018, I announced securing $1.5 million to construct a USDA Grassland, Soil, and Water Research Laboratory in Temple. This week, I cut the ribbon on the new lab. This lab will develop technology and solutions that increase the efficient use of soil and water resources, enhance crop production, and support increased agriculture production. Without farmers, America’s tables are empty, so the research at this facility supports the future of our food supply. EXPANDING HEALTHCARE IN TX-31 With the growth of Williamson County, it is imperative to have well-equipped hospitals to treat patients here and now. Earlier this year, I secured $3 million for a high-tech cardiac catheterization lab at Baylor Scott & White in Round Rock. This week I was able to tour the construction site for the hospital's new wing and see the catheterization lab. When Central Texans' health is at stake, I want our local facilities to have the necessary resources to save lives. SUPPORTING CENTRAL TEXAS FARMERS & RANCHERS Texas farmers and ranchers make the Lone Star State a top agricultural producer for the country. I sat down with Texas Farm Bureau members this week to discuss the upcoming farm and appropriations bills. We also discussed the damaging climate regulations from the left and how they impact their business. Climate activists need to understand that farmers and ranchers are responsible for the world’s food supply, and without them, the world goes hungry. Instead of stifling the agriculture industry, we need to support them. As always, thank you for taking the time to stay updated on what's happening in Texas' 31st congressional district. Follow my Facebook and Twitter accounts for more updates. Representing you and Texas in the United States House is an honor and privilege. Sincerely, John R. Carter Visit our website!
