John,
You’ve gotta hand it to Big Pharma, including Merck, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Johnson & Johnson, and the lobbying group PhRMA. Despite raking in $448 billion in profits over the last five years, they are filing multiple lawsuits trying to prevent Medicare from negotiating drug prices under President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act.
During that same time, these multi-million dollar global corporations have given more to their investors through stock buybacks and dividends than they paid in federal taxes too.
Which raises the obvious question: who does Big Pharma serve? The millions of patients depending on these manufacturers for life-saving medicines? Or greedy investors who see Medicare as an unprotected pot of money, to be divvied up amongst themselves for their own enrichment?
Demand Big Pharma drop their lawsuits and negotiate drug prices with Medicare by signing the petition now! The petition will be delivered by Social Security Works as part of an action on August 16th, commemorating the one-year anniversary of the Inflation Reduction Act.
Since the administration of George W. Bush, Medicare has been at the mercy of Big Pharma, required under the law to accept whatever prices Big Pharma set for prescription medications.
Every other insurer was able to negotiate drug prices, but the American people were barred from the negotiating table.
Now, even though President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act limits the number of medications actually subject to price negotiations, Big Pharma is strongly resisting having any limitations whatsoever applied to their limitless money spigot.
It’s time to demand these corporations drop their lawsuits, and instead arrive at fair drug prices for everyone. Please sign the petition now.
Thank you for calling the Big Pharma drug manufacturers out on their unethical actions against the American people!
