The Week in Review
Happy Friday!
I hope you had a wonderful week. I am grateful to serve you all in the 118th Congress. Read below to see what I’ve been working on this week.
President Trump’s Third Indictment Proves More Two-Tier Justice
I am outraged at the Department of Justice’s continued political persecution of Donald Trump, but unfortunately I am not surprised. The DOJ has proven itself to be a weaponized arm of the Biden Administration and completely untrustworthy for everyday Americans.
The recent indictment of President Trump is nothing more than a continuation of the politicized witch hunt against the Biden Administration’s enemies. It is appalling that the DOJ is prosecuting President Trump yet turning a blind eye to the rampant corruption of the current administration. It is no coincidence that news of the most recent indictment came the day after a former Hunter Biden business associate testified in front of the House Oversight Committee. The politicization of the Justice Department is disgusting.
I will continue to stand with President Trump and do everything in my power to hold the DOJ accountable. Congress can hold them accountable by defunding their efforts during the appropriations process, executing the Holman Rule to remove and defund corrupt officials, and conducting oversight on its baseless investigations.
Devon Archer’s Testimony to the House Oversight Committee
This week, Devon Archer, an ex-business associate of Hunter Biden, participated in a transcribed interview before the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability as part of the investigation into Biden family influence peddling. His testimony lasted several hours. Representative Jim Jordan of Ohio and I were the only two Republicans in the room to hear Mr. Archer's testimony.
During his testimony, Mr. Archer made it clear that Hunter Biden was selling his access to then-Vice President Joe Biden to his business associates. Contrary to what Joe Biden has asserted, he took up to 20 phone calls with his son's business partners.
Devon Archer also made many references to the "Biden Brand." He described the Biden Brand as having tremendous influence, working as an intimidation factor against anyone looking to bring legal action or accountability measures against Burisma or other Biden-affiliated companies. Mr. Archer asserted that Burisma would've gone under much sooner had it not been for the Biden Brand.
In response to my questions, Mr. Archer made it clear that the Biden Brand is not the whole Biden Family; it is Joe Biden alone.
Devon Archer's testimony confirms that Joe Biden lied to the American people when he claimed no involvement with Hunter's business schemes. This fact should raise alarm on both sides of the political aisle. What else is Joe Biden hiding? I remain committed to finding answers and holding the Administration accountable to the American people.

Visiting Our Southern Border
I visited Eagle Pass, TX, a town along our nation’s southern border, to witness our nation’s border crisis in real time.
Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas claims that the border is closed, but nothing could be further from the truth. A short visit to our southern border proves that it is wide open. There are clothes from border jumpers littered in heavily trafficked areas, and over 100 bodies of aliens illegally entering the country were found this month alone.
Border states are working hard to combat illegal immigration through increased enforcement activities. Increased state trooper presence, barbed wire, and buoys along the Rio Grande can only do so much. We need our federal government to take control and start enforcing our immigration laws.
The Biden Administration has neglected its responsibility to secure our borders, and Secretary Mayorkas knows that he is responsible for the crisis at our southern border. It’s time for Congress to act. We must open an impeachment inquiry on Mayorkas to begin impeachment proceedings.

Upcoming Committee Activity
It is now August Recess, meaning that the House is taking a legislative break from bringing items to the Floor. However, this does not mean that our work as your Representatives stops.
Next week, I will be co-chairing a Judiciary and Oversight Joint Subcommittee hearing in Sierra Vista, AZ, titled “Biden’s Border Crisis and its Effect on American Communities.” We will be discussing the ongoing crisis at the southern border and its devastating impact on Americans across the nation.
The hearing will be next Tuesday at 2:00 pm PST/5:00 pm EDT and can be streamed live on the Oversight Committee’s website.
I will also be attending an Oversight Subcommittee field hearing titled “Weathering the Storm: Oversight of the Federal Response and Recovery Efforts in Southwestern Florida following Hurricane Ian.” We will be assessing areas of improvement regarding federal response to natural disasters.
The hearing will be next Thursday at 7:00 am PST/10:00 am EDT and can be streamed live on the Oversight Committee’s website.
