Ohio has been a tough environment for abortion rights for a long time, but
we’ve got a MONUMENTAL opportunity to advance reproductive rights this
year.
In terms of importance, think of the Wisconsin special election, but… you
know in Ohio.
[ [link removed] ]We’re about to give you the rundown of what’s going on in the Buckeye
State, but if you’re in a hurry or already know the details, would you
please chip in $25 toward our Emergency $10,000 Special Election goal?

Ohio Republicans are banking on this process seeming boring or
complicated, but they suck so here’s the deal:
In November, Ohio voters will have the opportunity to amend the state
constitution to protect abortion access — this process requires a simple
50% majority of voters.
The GOP knows the majority of Ohioans support reproductive rights, so
they’re holding a special election on August 8th to try and increase that
threshold to 60% of voters.
*Side note* They only need a simple majority to bump the threshold from
“simple majority” to 60% — oh, the irony.
Here’s the bottom line: Winning the August 8th special election gives us
the best chance to win in November and enshrine abortion rights in the
state constitution, and we’re running out of time to mobilize Ohioans.
