Team, did you know July was the hottest month on record?
While summer is supposed to be a time of the year where we can all enjoy the sunshine and the great outdoors, the effects of climate change are becoming downright dangerous to our communities.
On more than one occasion, the Denver Department of Public Health and Environment issued extreme heat alerts while our city opened up cooling centers to mitigate the health concerns from the extreme heat. In the midst of the nearly triple-digit temperatures, not everyone had access to air conditioning, and once again, our most vulnerable communities suffered.
I want to make it absolutely clear this is not normal, and we can't let it be our normal.
Our world is facing a crisis, and the actions we take now will have a massive impact on the future. Every single one of us is at risk because of our changing climate, and I firmly believe it's going to take decisive action NOW to solve this crisis. As ranking member of the House Energy and Commerce’s Subcommittee on Energy, Climate, and Grid Security, I am proud to continue being a voice in the fight against climate change. But I know if we're going to beat this, we need all hands on deck.
If you agree with me, add your name to this petition to support stronger legislation to fight the climate crisis >> [link removed]
Thank you,
