BUILDING MORE AFFORDABLE HOUSING IN RURAL IOWA Serving on the House Ways and Means Committee, I recently helped introduce two pieces of legislation — the Neighborhood Homes Investment Act and the Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act — that can help make homes more affordable for families in the 4th District. Read more www.nwestiowa.com MY MEETING WITH THE NORTH WEST RURAL ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE This week, on my 36 County Tour, I attended North West REC’s board meeting to discuss my support for an “all-of-the-above” American energy strategy. I look forward to continuing to work with them to make sure we can keep prices low and create even more efficiency with our energy production. I’ll always be a strong voice for our rural electric cooperatives that deliver reliable, affordable power to our families and businesses. FIGHTING THE FENTANYL EPIDEMIC AND BUILDING THE BORDER WALL  This week, I proudly introduced the Build the Wall and Fight Fentanyl Act, which will build the border wall and fight the fentanyl crisis with assets and money confiscated from the drug cartels. I have heard too many stories of families losing a loved one to a fentanyl overd0se, and my bill will fund recovery services and keep fentanyl out of our communities in the first place. A GOP lawmaker is introducing a bill that would divert the assets of drug smugglers into funds to build the border wall and tackle the fentanyl epidemic. Read more www.foxnews.com VISITING SIOUX CENTER HEALTH WITH GOVERNOR REYNOLDS  It was great to have Governor Reynolds on my 36 County Tour at Sioux Center Health. Together, we are working to support our rural hospitals and expand access to quality, affordable healthcare for our families and communities in the 4th District and across our great state. CHEROKEE LOCKER GRAND OPENING I enjoyed attending the grand opening of the Cherokee Locker on my 36 County Tour this week. This processing plant will provide 4th District producers with a local option to sell their product and generate economic activity in rural Iowa. These investments are crucial to the vitality of our small towns and I look forward to seeing the positive results that come from this new facility. 2023 CONGRESSIONAL APP CHALLENGE  The 2023 Congressional App Challenge is coming up! Middle School and High School students from across the 4th District can submit their apps to our office now!
