1. POLITICO: Rep. Bishop to give up congressional seat to run for N.C. attorney general

"Republican Rep. Dan Bishop announced that he is running for North Carolina attorney general next year, abandoning his congressional district to seek statewide office in the Tarheel State.

The decision sets off an incredibly competitive race for a role historically dominated by Democrats. Bishop, a member of the Freedom Caucus, has the kind of national profile and history of challenging the establishment that could flood the race with attention—and cash."

3. VOLUNTEER: Another way you can help us support the veto overrides

Roy Cooper has vetoed three bills that we are looking forward to the Republican supermajority overriding in the next three weeks:

  • H808, "Gender Transition/Minors": Stops medical (hormonal and surgical) transitioning for anyone under 18 years old.
  • H574, "Fairness in Women's Sports Act": Stops biological men from playing women's sports through college.
  • S49, "Parents Bill of Rights": Requires schools to be transparent about curriculum, and ensure parents are informed about issues involving their children.

Veto overrides can happen at any time, so it’s important to have a list of interested NC Values supporters ready to come stand with us at the General Assembly to support and encourage our legislators.

If you would like to be on our quick action list and join us at the General Assembly for these override votes, please email [email protected] for more information.

4. CAROLINA JOURNAL: Detransitioned NC woman files suit against ‘gender-affirming care’ practitioners

"Last week, a 25-year-old detransitioned North Carolina woman filed a lawsuit against those she claims were responsible for convincing her to undergo gender-reassignment medical procedures when she was a minor. Filed as a civil case in Gaston County Superior Court, Prisha Mosley alleges a team of doctors and counselors regularly lied to her by stating that transitioning from female to male would solve her mental health issues." She is not alone in filing this type of lawsuit.

Weekly Prayer: Life

LORD, we recognize that you are Sovereign over all creation. We recognize you made man from the dust, and in your mercy, you crowned creation with man and woman made in your image. What a wonder it is that you would bestow upon us this blessing and responsibility!

LORD, may we not take this blessing for granted. We pray that this great responsibility and dignity may motivate us to love You, our neighbors, and our families more. LORD, may we as a culture truly see and believe that children are a blessing from the LORD—born or unborn; able or disabled. All children should have an opportunity to experience the liberty of life. LORD, make us your vehicle to change our culture into one that cherishes and protects life. Keep at the forefront of our minds our responsibilities to respect, cherish, and serve the youngest and oldest in our society.

"At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, 'Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?' He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said: 'Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me. If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.'" (Matthew 18:1-6)

Amen
