Dear Friend,
This Saturday, August 5,
Raymond Cardinal Burke will celebrate a very special
Pontifical High Mass, at 11:00 AM Central Time from the Shrine
of Our Lady of Guadalupe, in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Why is this so
special? Not only is this First Saturday, dedicated to the Immaculate
Heart of Mary, it is also the special Feast Day of the Dedication of
the Basilica of Saint Mary Major – Our Lady of the Snows. All are
welcome to assist at the Holy Mass, either in person or to view on
your computer or smartphone via the livestream
link.
What intentions will you be
submitting, which will be included in the full
ceremonial, Pontifical High Mass, offered by His Eminence Raymond
Cardinal Burke?
Did you know that this feast
commemorates the miracle of the
snowfall on the site where the Basilica of Saint Mary Major now
stands? It happened in the year 358, during the night of August 4-5.
The Blessed Virgin Mary appeared in a dream to two faithful people, as
well as to Pope Liberius asking that a church be built in her honor on
the site where snow would fall on the night of August 4-5. Pope
Liberius traced the outlines of the church in the snow and the
basilica was built on that site.
Since this Pontifical High Mass occurs on a Saturday, it will be a
good time to put aside all distractions and soak in all the glorious
moments.
