Our oceans’ colors are changing, and its rising temperature spells bad news for the planet.

John,

Here at SEEC PAC, we’re not ones to live by horoscopes. But when our climate’s mood ring changes colors, we take notice.

Over the last two decades, researchers have been closely monitoring changes to our oceans’ hues, and they’ve concluded that over 56 percent of the world’s oceans have changed colors to such an extent that it cannot be explained by natural causes.

The culprit? You guessed it: human-caused climate change.

As temperatures in the atmosphere rise, our oceans naturally warm up, too. And when our oceans get warmer, nutrient transfer from deeper seas to surface waters screeches to a halt.

Without these deep sea nutrients, phytoplankton populations (a.k.a. the foundation of the aquatic food web and a major source of oxygen to our atmosphere) drastically decline, leading to a massive kink in our planet’s internal cooling system — and a noticeable change to our oceans’ colors.

John, we experienced some of the hottest days on record back in July. Now, 2023 is well on its way to becoming the Earth’s warmest year, and it’s only getting worse from here. That is, unless we elect a green majority in 2024.

With a green majority, our Members will be able to pass key climate reform that would disentangle our energy sector from carbon, lower our atmosphere’s temperature, AND help repair our planet’s built-in carbon sink. But 18 of our SEEC-held seats are at risk of being flipped in 2024, so we’re counting on your support to help us protect and expand our climate coalition. Will you make a quick $8 donation so we can keep up the climate fight, John?

If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
$8 $20.23
$50 $100

If you’ve ever had a mood ring, you know that unless it’s completely broken, you’re not stuck on one color forever. Help us turn our oceans from green back to blue (and prospective SEEC recruits from blue to green!) by making a contribution of $8 today »

Thanks to your help in 2022, SEEC PAC was able to re-elect over 95% of our pro-environment members to the U.S. House of Representatives — defying the odds on a night where Democrats lost seats. Now we are counting on you to help our SEEC members pass climate, clean energy and environmental justice policies in the 118th Congress while we continue fighting for a sustainable future. But if you'd like to receive fewer emails, we understand. You can click here to only get our most important messages, or you can unsubscribe.
