Since taking the majority, House Republicans have worked tirelessly to achieve win after win accomplishing the goals laid out in our Commitment to America: preserving freedom, strengthening our economy, protecting communities, and holding the government accountable.
Seven months into the 118th Congress, the Republican House majority has passed more rule bills and sent more rule bills to the desk of the President than the Democrat majority in the 117th Congress did in seven months with one-party control of the House, Senate, and White House.
Whether it’s lowering energy costs for families, fighting to close the border, reining in federal overreach, supporting our men and women in uniform, stopping out-of-control government spending, or halting the flow of fentanyl, House Republicans continue to bring legislation to the floor to combat Democrats’ radical policies and get our country back on track.
We have also launched several oversight investigations, including investigations into the Biden family’s influence peddling schemes, politically motivated abuse of power in federal agencies, and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’ failures at our southern border. The American people deserve transparency, and House Republicans are here to provide answers.
With crises on all fronts, corruption throughout the administrative state, and Americans still struggling under high inflation, the Biden Administration is failing families at every turn. House Republicans won’t stop taking action on the House Floor or holding oversight investigations to deliver on our promises to the American people. We’re working for you, and we’re just getting started.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) staff and budget are exploding under President Joe Biden as his administration seeks to transform the agency into a nationwide force for "environmental justice," according to a new oversight analysis by an independent government watchdog.
The bulk of the added funding for EPA's transformation comes from three major Biden administration spending programs, including $100 million under the American Rescue Plan of 2021, $60 billion under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, also of 2021, and another $40 billion from the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) of 2022.
The report notes that the agency's Inspector-General (IG) is warning that a massive infusion of new spending is likely to produce a huge increase in waste and fraud in EPA's daily operations because so little of the increasing funding is targeted to preventive measures.
Not to mention the agency includes 137 armed agents with arrest and firearm authority. The Office of Personnel Management withheld 259 names of EPA employees particularly those with law enforcement-related roles.
Why on earth is the EPA beefing up its staff, budget, and armed agents?

I started my week off in West Texas with Congressman August Pfluger at the 19th Annual West Texas Legislative Summit in San Angelo. I joined the energy panel to discuss the importance the Gulf Coast of Texas plays in our energy industry. Then I joined the Brazoria Business Roundtable to give an update on the last seven months in Washington. Thank you for having me!
I attended the ribbon cutting for Chevron Phillips Chemicals for their new 1-Hexene unit t in Sweeny. 1-hexene is a critical component in the manufacture of polyethylene, a plastic resin used to produce plastic pipe, milk jugs, film, detergent bottles, and food and beverage containers. Exciting things are happening in TX-14. Then I presented a certificate to NeuAG to celebrate their achievements. They were recognized on a national level by the ResponsibleAG Certification Program. Thank you for what y’all are doing in the community. Then I finished the week off visiting construction workers working up updating walking paths and ponds in Brazoria County. Your hard work for our community doesn’t go unnoticed.

For over 100 years our great service academies have produced some of America’s greatest leaders. Not only are these programs producing military leaders, they are also molding better citizens for America. They prepare our youth to be well-rounded leaders and agile thinkers who will take their lessons of discipline and leadership with them into both military and civilian careers.
Part of my privileges as a Member of Congress is that I am authorized to nominate candidates for appointment to the U.S. Service Academies. Every year I look forward to reading those applications. I am always impressed by the character, selflessness, and -- above all -- the devotion to the ideals of our great nation. The honor of attending a service academy comes with the obligation and commitment to serve in the military for a minimum of five years upon graduation.
Each member of Congress may nominate up to ten individuals for each vacant academy slot allotted to our district for appointment to four of the five U.S. service academies: U.S. Military Academy (USMA), West Point, NY; the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA), Annapolis, MD; the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA), Colorado Springs, CO; and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), Kings Point, NY. The fifth service academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (USCGA), New London, CT, does not require a congressional nomination for appointment.
Below you will find all the information to start the process, including checklists and important dates. This year's deadline is Friday, October 20, 2023. I would also encourage you to watch the videos linked here and here (part II) called “The Five-Pointed Star.” It’s a great overview of what each of the US Service Academies have to offer. |
