Today marks one year that I’ve been in the race for Congress.
Today marks one year that I’ve been in the race for Congress -- and I’ve been taking some time to reflect on all that’s happened in the last year on the campaign trail.
I decided to run because of all the injustice I’ve seen in my life -- I watched my mom have to fight tooth and nail to get compensation when she was injured on the job. I watched colleagues and friends skip visits to the doctor when they’re sick because they can’t afford health insurance.
I’ve watched as Congress remains saturated with millionaires, and then votes against the best interests of working-class Americans. That’s why I just challenged the FEC to allow me to use my campaign funds to pay for my health care -- running for office is a full time job, and it’s time we break down the barriers that prevent everyday Americans from running.
I’ve seen good people be discounted because of the color of their skin -- I myself have been told to “go back to my country,” even though the United States is my home.
And in the past year, I’ve been talking to people in every corner of this toss-up district -- and they’re all ready for a change too. Will you chip in a donation of $3.65 to help us flip this district and start fighting for every American?
And we’re gaining some incredible momentum! We just got endorsed by Reps. Ro Khanna and Ilhan Omar -- a humbling vote of confidence from two incredibly dedicated and passionate public servants.
We’ve also seen so many organizations that fight for issues like an end to climate change and endless wars abroad join the team and endorse our campaign.
We’re building a coalition of people who are tired of being told to wait their turn for progress -- people who know that we can win if we all stand up together and say enough is enough.
Will you pitch in a donation of $3.65 to commemorate one year on the campaign trail -- and to flip this competitive toss up district?
In solidarity,
Nabilah
