John,
Did you watch the Democratic Presidential debate last night? Like many that tuned in, I listened closely for a candidate who will represent my values and vision for our country. I was struck by the passion and insight by our Democratic choices. I was also struck that the debate was in Las Vegas, Nevada. Nevada has elected two women to represent them in the Senate, including the first Latina.
Colorado can do this too. And it is time. Women leaders, like myself, bring our experiences and perspectives to our work. I bring it to my work as an academic studying systems of oppression in our communities. I bring it to my work as a community advocate redressing the harms of those systems. I bring it to my work as a pastor holding sacred space for those in need of healing in my own community.
Sadly, there are only 26 women in our US Senate. There are 101 in our US House. However, Colorado only has one woman representing us in Congress. And we have never elected a woman to the US Senate or as Governor.
Please run with me for a new voice for Colorado in our Senate. The voice of a woman of color. I will fight for all of us, all of our communities.
You can help by committing to caucus for change and giving today. Donations of $10, $27 or $50 can help us ensure that every potential caucus goer sees our message - our message that bold, new leadership is possible. Change is possible.
In Solidarity,
Stephany Rose Spaulding
Your Candidate for US Senate
