This madness must end, John.
At least 20 people were murdered and 26 injured yesterday at a shopping center in El Paso, Texas. And less than 13 hours later, at least nine more people were murdered and 27 people injured in downtown Dayton, Ohio.
Two mass shootings in one day.
And yet, so many willfully ignore that our country has a gun violence problem. They defiantly obstruct the many commonsense solutions that could prevent these tragedies. The Senate just left for a five-week summer break without voting on the universal background check bill the House passed months ago. It's an absolute disgrace.
My heart aches for the families and communities who are now forever changed by these senseless tragedies. But as angry and devastated as we're feeling right now, we must never give up – now is the time to take action.
I hope you'll join me in making sure this never, ever becomes our new normal: We need to raise $150,000 as fast as we can to ramp up our gun violence prevention programs and advocacy for stronger gun safety laws – and we can't get there without your immediate donation:
Please rush a donation of $10, or as much as you possibly can, to Sandy Hook Promise right now. Your tax-deductible gift will help us take immediate action to prevent future tragedies.

We were just mourning for Gilroy, and Brooklyn, and Philadelphia this past week, and we mourn for communities and families across America every single day. But it doesn't have to be this way.
I didn't have to be the mom who kisses an urn with my beautiful butterfly Dylan's ashes every night, and those families in El Paso and Dayton didn't have to get the news that their loved ones were gone forever – because gun violence is preventable.
That's why we must take action right now, and why I'm so grateful for your support today.
With love,
Nicole Hockley (Dylan's mom)
