Dear Morris County Democrat,
 
The 25th Legislative District has three highly qualified candidates running for State Senate. I am proud to say that each one, Committeeman Jeff Grayzel of Morris Township, Cliff Dawkins of Rockaway Borough, and Rupande Mehta of Denville, is from right here in Morris County. As Chairman of Morris County Democratic Committee (MCDC), I have not and will not endorse a candidate until after our nominating convention on March 15 at 3pm at the Parsippany Police Athletic League on Baldwin Road.
 
The Morris County Democratic Committee as a whole, has not endorsed anyone in this race, and will make its recommendation by a vote of our membership on March 15th.  This includes our municipal chairs, district county committee members, elected officials, our six representatives to the state democratic party, our caucus subcommittee chairs, our former MCDC Chairs and Vice Chairs.   No one gets more than one vote and only people who live in District 25 who meet the above criteria can vote for the District 25 Senate candidates.  If none of the three candidates achieves a majority of the vote on the first ballot, there will be a second ballot between the top two contenders.  As chairman, I have the right to break ties. 
 
I feel strongly that our Municipal Chairs and fellow Democratic leaders and Caucus Chairs should be free to recommend and or endorse who they wish before the convention.   individual members of the MCDC Executive Board are permitted to make their own endorsements, independent of MCDC. While I respect the decision of anyone on my Executive Board or a municipal chair  to make an endorsement before the nominating convention, I must stress that any endorsement in no way reflects the opinions of the MCDC as whole. We are fortunate to have such strong and capable candidates running and wish them all the best of luck.
 
                It is my sincere hope that we can all unite behind the winner of our MCDC convention, as they will need our help to raise the funds and build the organization to defeat Bucco this fall.
