John,
Our campaign for the people of West Virginia continued to gain momentum as I traveled in 20+ counties and four states during the past two weeks. We've earned front-page and prime-time coverage in leading print and TV outlets. We've raised tens of thousands of dollars during those two weeks.
We've grown our organization of donors and volunteers. But we need each of you to share news about the campaign. Read our many latest updates and happenings below. Please kindly share the ones that resonate with you, urging your friends to contribute whatever they are able! This is how we spread our message of standing up for working families and restoring balance and accountability to our politics.
We opened 2020 with a key endorsement: the Parkersburg-Marietta Building Construction & Trades Council [[link removed]] recognized my years of work on behalf of workers' rights and my support of strong labor unions and better wages for all West Virginians. I'm honored to have the support of our hard-working construction professionals, and I'll never stop fighting for good-paying jobs and retirement security for working West Virginians.
We followed that up with speaking engagements at local union halls, small businesses, schools, and community centers statewide. In my law practice, I keep fighting every day for workers across the state and region -- as we fight back against the closures of mines, hospitals, and more. As your Attorney General, I'll continue to stand up for coal miners, and all of us, to ensure we receive the wages and benefits that we've earned.
I joined WVOW radio in Logan [[link removed]] for a live interview about our campaign. We received positive feedback about our on-air conversation on how the Attorney General can fight more smartly for West Virginians suffering from substance use disorder and the opioid crisis. This isn't just about our health and addiction -- it's about revitalizing our communities by helping more people stay healthy and get back to work.
We followed that up with a meet and greet in in the Wheeling area that was covered by Fox News [[link removed]] and WTRF [[link removed]] . We had a conversation about how West Virginia is moving in the wrong direction on healthcare. I scarcely needed to remind the crowd about the inexcusable failure of Patrick Morrisey to intervene and protect our communities from devastating losses, such as Ohio Valley and Fairmont Regional Medical Centers. We need to protect and improve our healthcare delivery systems. First and foremost, I'm focused on that, which is why it was also the main topic of our conversation with the Fairmont Times West Virginian earlier this week. [[link removed]]
With your help, we're running hard all the way to November 3rd. Together, we'll remind a majority of West Virginians why and how this campaign is built to beat Patrick Morrisey and to serve you better as your next Attorney General.
