John, incredible news – the FDA has just approved the first over-the-counter birth control pill in the U.S.!
This is a massive step toward protecting reproductive rights and making reproductive health care accessible to all – but we cannot stop here. That's why today I'm reaffirming my fight for reproductive freedom, and I'm calling on 5,000 supporters to do the same.
Before my midnight deadline, will you sign my petition to join my fight to protect reproductive rights?
John, every single victory that we win in our fight to protect reproductive rights is a huge deal – because for me, this fight is personal.
When I was a teenager, I got pregnant. And with the help of my mother, I made the decision to get an abortion. But with no access to the health care I needed in the U.S., I had to travel from my home in California to Mexico to receive a back-alley abortion.
I knew that I could die – because at the time, Black women were disproportionately dying from septic abortions. And I knew that I could be put in jail, because getting an abortion was a criminal offense. It was traumatizing.
And now, because five conservative Supreme Court justices let their faith and political agenda blind them, millions of people today are just as terrified as I was as a teen.
John, listen to me: We cannot stop fighting for reproductive rights until we all have access to reproductive care. That's why I've championed expanding reproductive rights for years, and that’s why, even though this latest approval by the FDA is encouraging, we cannot let up in our fight.
So I have to ask, before my petition closes at midnight tonight, can I count on you to add your name to my petition to protect reproductive rights?
Thank you.
