Just because it’s 2023 doesn’t mean that Young Democrats have the year off. We have crucial off year elections to play in across the country and one of them could decide the very fate of democracy in Ohio.

Young Dems are battling for the soul of our democracy right here in Ohio. Right now, Ohio is facing a turning point in their residents’ voices in their governance with a special election on a ballot question. Issue 1 will ask voters the question, “Should Ohioans break from 110 years of our history and make it harder for citizens to amend our constitution?” The obvious answer to this is NO. 

Supporters of Issue 1 want to silence Ohioans and make sure that out of state, dark money interests can have the most say in Ohio’s government. Ohioans desperately want to reform their state government and constitution as Ohio has been named "the No. 1 state for Public Corruption” and Issue 1 will only continue that. And that is why we need your help. 

If Special Interests get their way in this Special Election, it could mean catastrophic things for the 2024 election. President Biden nearly won and Ohio has decided Presidential elections in the past. If No on 1 wins, they can run their fake elector scheme and take away constitutionally protected electoral votes from deserving Ohioans. We cannot let that happen.
