John,
When President Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act into law last year, it included a critical provision that, for the first time in 20 years, allows Medicare to start negotiating down drug prices with pharmaceutical corporations.
For too long, Big Pharma has been able to price gouge the American people, charging us twice as much as people in other industrialized nations―$1,126 per capita on prescription drugs in the U.S. vs. $522 per capita in comparable countries.[1]
As a result, over the last 5 years, the 10 largest pharmaceutical corporations have raked in $448 billion in profits while paying tax rates that are roughly half that of regular working people.[2] Now, they’re suing the federal government to protect their obscene profits and stop Medicare drug price negotiations.
That’s why, last week, we sent more than 40,000 letters to Big Pharma CEOs, demanding they drop their greedy lawsuits and finally allow Medicare to negotiate drug prices.
Now, we’re taking our campaign to the next level―partnering with allies from across the country, generating thousands of petition signatures, which we’ll deliver to Big Pharma later this month.
Add your name and demand pharmaceutical corporations Merck, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Johnson & Johnson, PhRMA, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce drop their greedy lawsuits now.
Big Pharma and its bought-and-paid-for politicians in Congress are seeking to gut Medicare and Medicaid to pay for tax cuts for the wealthy and protect pharmaceutical corporations’ profits. We’re demanding Big Pharma put patients’ health before corporate profits.
No one should have to go into debt, go without life-saving medicines, or have to choose between prescriptions and other basic needs like groceries and rent. Yet millions across the country face those painful choices with one out of four patients unable to afford prescription drugs.[3]
Add your name now to demand Big Pharma drop their greedy lawsuits and allow Medicare to start negotiating drug prices.
Thank you for fighting for a healthcare system, economy, and tax system that works for everyone, not just the wealthy few.
