What is the actual impact of the indictments against Donald Trump on the election? If Trump is the nominee, the entire election is going to be about his legal troubles. Here’s the calendar from here on out: He had a January 6 Washington, D.C., court appearance today. The Trump Organization Civil suit begins October 2. The E. Jean Carroll defamation trial begins January 15, 2024. The pyramid scheme class action suit begins January 29. The hush money case brought by the Manhattan D.A. begins March 25. The classified documents trial begins May 20. Then there is also the trial for the latest indictment. Latest Releases: |
So the entire next year will be taken up by Trump’s trials, and he will use all his money on his legal defense. In fact, he already has. He’s tapped into election funds in order to pay his legal bills. That has strong ramifications for a general election. If the entire election is about Trump’s legal problems, it will be very difficult for him to win because everyone will focus on the problems with Trump. They will not be focused on the problems with the current president of the United States, who’s both corrupt and terrible at his job. Possibly even more important, if Trump uses every dollar that is coming in to fight all of these spurious legal actions against him, the money will not go toward ballot harvesting or a knocking-on-doors campaign. It will not go to the actions on the ground needed to win a tight election. That’s all part of the Democrats’ strategy. All of this hamstrings Trump in a general election in incredible and dramatic ways. |
Those are challenges that are going to be hard for Trump. Forget about all the other candidates. Forget about the Republican primary candidates. On a practical level, these are serious obstacles right now. I understand the emotional appeal for some Republicans: It’s Trump’s only chance so we have to give it to him; we have to let him run for the presidency so he can pardon himself in the federal cases. They feel we need to see the conclusion of this movie where Trump takes revenge or at least has the opportunity to take revenge against the DOJ that has been plaguing him. Latest Episode: |
Ep. 1780 - The Rigging Of The 2024 Election Bogged down by specious legal cases – and elevated toward the Republican presidential nomination because of them – Donald Trump faces insuperable obstacles to the White House; Devon Archer tells Tucker Carlson about his relationship with Hunter; and Bidenomics means America’s credit being downgraded. |
I get it. I get the emotional appeal. I feel it myself. I totally understand it. But who is the most likely to win? The only way you actually win and defeat the Joe Biden political machine and the DOJ run by Biden is to replace him with a Republican. And the only way to replace him with a Republican is to run somebody who presumably will not be hampered for the next year by massive legal issues, spending every dollar on his legal defense and spending little time actually campaigning because he’s too busy fighting legal battles. These are real on-the-ground concerns and that is not excusing any of the attacks on Trump. Ben Shapiro Top five headlines: |
