HUGE NEWS: Today, our attorneys secured new trial dates for the 14 young pe=
ople we represent in the constitutional climate case Navahine F. v. Hawai=
=CA=BBi Department of Transportation.

This youth-led climate trial =E2=80=93 only the second ever in U.S. history=
=E2=80=93 is now scheduled to take place over three weeks in Honolulu, HI =
beginning JUNE 24, 2024!

The Youth Will Be Heard
Just as the world saw at trial in Held v. State of Montana earlier this sum=
mer, trial in Hawai=CA=BBi will provide the youth plaintiffs with an invalu=
able opportunity to present their evidence to the court: the climate impact=
s they are experiencing on their beloved islands; the harms to their health=
, wellness, and cultural practices and traditions; the fears they have for =
themselves, their families, and future generations. The judge will also hea=
r from climate, transportation, energy, and other experts who will testify =
on behalf of these young people, clearly describing for the court how the a=
ctions of the youth=E2=80=99s own government worsen the climate crisis in t=
heir state. And all of this evidence will be entered into the public record=
, for consideration by the judge in this case and for perpetuity.

The Youth Will Be Heard
Just as the world saw at trial in Held v. State of Montana earlier this summer, trial in Hawaiʻi will provide the youth plaintiffs with an invaluable opportunity to present their evidence to the court: the climate impacts they are experiencing on their beloved islands; the harms to their health, wellness, and cultural practices and traditions; the fears they have for themselves, their families, and future generations. The judge will also hear from climate, transportation, energy, and other experts who will testify on behalf of these young people, clearly describing for the court how the actions of the youth’s own government worsen the climate crisis in their state. And all of this evidence will be entered into the public record, for consideration by the judge in this case and for perpetuity.
By 2030, 60% of Hawaiʻi’s greenhouse gas emissions will come from transportation. This trial has the power to change that trajectory. Youth in Hawaiʻi have the right to protect their beloved islands, their way of life, and their future.

HUGE NEWS: Today, our attorneys secured new trial dates for the 14 young people we represent in the constitutional climate case Navahine F. v. Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation.
This youth-led climate trial – only the second ever in U.S. history – is now scheduled to take place over three weeks in Honolulu, HI beginning JUNE 24, 2024!

The Youth Will Be Heard
Just as the world saw at trial in Held v. State of Montana earlier this summer, trial in Hawaiʻi will provide the youth plaintiffs with an invaluable opportunity to present their evidence to the court: the climate impacts they are experiencing on their beloved islands; the harms to their health, wellness, and cultural practices and traditions; the fears they have for themselves, their families, and future generations. The judge will also hear from climate, transportation, energy, and other experts who will testify on behalf of these young people, clearly describing for the court how the actions of the youth’s own government worsen the climate crisis in their state. And all of this evidence will be entered into the public record, for consideration by the judge in this case and for perpetuity.
By 2030, 60% of Hawaiʻi’s greenhouse gas emissions will come from transportation. This trial has the power to change that trajectory. Youth in Hawaiʻi have the right to protect their beloved islands, their way of life, and their future.
