Dear John,
For the second year in a row, the number of monarch butterflies counted in the West has hit a record low.
A key driver of monarch decline is Monsanto’s Roundup®. This toxic pesticide is also harming bees. And it’s putting our health at risk.
If we want a livable planet, we must demand that corporations like Bayer-Monsanto stop producing this poison. This month Big Ag company Dow announced it would stop selling chlorpyrifos. This came after people like you pushed states across the U.S. and countries across the world to ban this brain-damaging pesticide. Now we need your help to ramp up pressure on Bayer-Monsanto before it’s too late for pollinators and our planet!
Sign your name: Tell Bayer-Monsanto to kick cancer-causing Roundup® out of our environment!
Roundup® has no place in our planet’s ecosystem. It’s a double-edged sword that threatens both people and monarch butterflies.
Monarchs have declined by more than 97% in the west, and their populations have decreased by 90% overall in the last 20 years. This decline occurred as the use of Roundup® skyrocketed, killing milkweed -- the main food source for baby monarchs. Roundup® use jumped from only 11 million pounds in 1987 to nearly 200 million pounds in 2016.
It’s no wonder these butterflies are in decline. But with these critical pollinators and other insects facing extinction, scientists warn we could soon see the “catastrophic collapse of nature’s ecosystems.”
Roundup® is also linked to cancer. Right now more than 40,000 people are suing Bayer-Monsanto, alleging that Roundup® contributed to their cancer. In every case that has been decided so far, the judge has agreed with the cancer patients.
There is no excuse for Bayer-Monsanto to continue selling this pesticide. No excuse, that is, besides its greed and desire to profit at the expense of our health and environment. We need your help pushing Bayer-Monsanto to change course.
Protect people and pollinators: Tell Bayer-Monsanto to stop selling Roundup®!
To protect people, our planet, and our environment, we must end the use of Roundup®. It’s linked to cancer in people and it's harming our environment by driving butterfly and bee die-offs.
We must send a loud and clear message to Bayer-Monsanto that it must stop selling Roundup®.
People and pollinators are counting on you: Demand Bayer-Monsanto stop selling cancer-causing Roundup®!
Standing with you,
