Friend,
If you believe the indictments will
cost Trump the nomination, stop reading this email. That’s a trap. We
can't fall into it.
Now, you’re going to see all these
news stories about Trump’s arraignment today and some commentary from
the talking heads about why this indictment will shake up
the GOP primary.
Don’t
listen to them. Check out Reed’s message below. The
only way to guarantee accountability for Trump is to deny him the
White House. That’s the work we’re doing here at The Lincoln Project.
And we need your help to do it.

Friend,
Another day. Another indictment.
Trump was just charged with
four criminal counts for attempting to overturn the 2020 election. The
only thing surpassing the magnitude of the criminality is how much
this won’t matter for Trump’s nomination chances. He’s got the GOP in
lockstep.
Here’s what’s going to happen next. The MAGA media ecosystem is going to go into
overdrive. Fox is already saying it’s “time to put January 6th in the
past.” Get ready for a heavy dose of whataboutism and false
equivalency. They’ll do anything to defend their Dear Leader. They’ll
do anything to delegitimize the Department of Justice’s
investigation.
Then, get ready for money to flood into Trump’s campaign
coffers. We’ve seen this
playbook before. In fact, fundraising emails are going out as we
speak. How else is Trump going to pay his legal fees? He’s going to
hit up his supporters for money. He’s going to hit up his
suckers.
He’s still got a stranglehold on the nomination.
This is the main takeaway. I
said at the top that we can’t ignore the historic criminality of the
moment. But the fact of the matter is that this indictment won’t
impact the GOP race for President one bit. Any piece of media coverage
you see that does not immediately mention this is deluding themselves
and the American public.
Trump’s the MAGA nominee for President. Nothing you saw
from these indictments will change that.
But
will he be President? We’re fighting every day to stop that from
happening. Trump belongs in prison, not The White House.
