Donald Trump never ceases to embarrass this country, embarrass himself, and demean the presidency.

 

We learned Tuesday that the disgraced former president has been indicted a third time – and this is the most serious of them all.

 

Trump was charged with four crimes in connection to his efforts to overturn the 2020 election and keep himself in power. The indictment is very clear: Trump understood that he had lost. Still, he was so desperate to retain the White House and subvert democracy that he and his allies had a plan to reject the clear election results and stage a coup. 

 

If there was ever any doubt about the severe danger posed by Donald Trump and his posse of enablers to our country and its institutions, this third indictment makes it all too obvious.

 

Donald Trump must never set foot anywhere near the Oval Office ever again.

 

The deadly insurrection on January 6th was planned. The violence at the Capitol, the attempt to overthrow our government, were the precise intentions of Trump and those few allies who stood with him. Trump tried to dissolve our democracy on that day, and we must ensure he never has a chance to do it again.

 

Shockingly, Trump remains the Republican frontrunner for the presidential nomination. It’s critical that we all get to the polls next November and re-elect Joe Biden. 

 

But we have to do more than that.

 

Donald Trump lives on in American politics because of the support of extreme Republicans in Congress who believe and promote his lies. We must send them all home in 2024.

 

I’m running to unseat Mike Simpson, one of those very enablers. His life was in danger on January 6th, and yet, he still to this day refuses to denounce Donald Trump or acknowledge the threat he poses to this country.
