The latest four charges brought against Donald Trump by the Department of Justice make it clear: he knew he lost the 2020 election but did everything he could to cling to power anyway. 

A grand jury of everyday Americans reviewed an incredible amount of evidence, heard testimony from dozens of witnesses, and found that Trump must stand trial for serious criminal wrongdoing. 

Today, Trump will be arraigned for trying to steal the 2020 election and inciting an insurrection to help him do it. 

This indictment isn’t about political theater. It’s about whether, when we go to cast our ballot as Americans, we can be confident our vote will be counted, no matter our political party. It's about whether a president and his allies who want to cling to power are able to throw out votes that they don't like.

It’s simple. Trump did not care that Joe Biden won the election. Instead of conceding, he cooked up a scheme to manufacture fake electoral certificates and pressured then-Vice President Mike Pence to stop the certification in Congress. 

When that didn’t work, Trump and his allies chose violence and instigated an insurrection to subvert the will of the American people. 

That violence hit at the heart of our democracy, and it cost people their lives. We can’t let the MAGA disinformation machine rewrite history. 

It’s time to finally hold Trump accountable for his crimes, and this indictment is the first step. Make sure your community knows the truth about what’s at stake.
