Pollinators need help. Luckily, there’s a bill for that.
John,
We rely on pollinators to grow our food, but sadly more than 40% of pollinator species are listed as threatened or endangered.
But YOU can do something to help. Food & Water Action is fighting to safeguard our pollinators by supporting the Saving America’s Pollinators Act.This bill, reintroduced by Congressman Earl Blumenauer (OR) and Congressman Jim McGovern (MA), would protect pollinators by immediately suspending the registration of dangerous pesticides called neonicotinoids.
These widely-used pesticides used on crops to kill pests are lethal to many pollinators. Neonicotinoids impair bees’ natural defense systems, limit their reproductive success, and reduce their chances of survival.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has a history of allowing the use of bee-killing pesticides despite all the evidence that they cause harm to bees and other pollinators. This dangerous stance means that pollinators will continue to suffer unless we act now.
At Food & Water Action, we know that saving our precious pollinators goes beyond banning pesticides like neonicotinoids. Our end goal to protect pollinators involves banning factory farms, systematically reforming our food and farming systems, and implementing bold solutions to the climate crisis, including ending fossil fuel subsidies and transitioning to 100% clean and renewable energy.
Food & Water Action and its affiliated organization, Food & Water Watch, are advocacy groups with a common mission to protect our food, water and climate.
