Team, I want to be clear about this: Trump has been indicted for his attempts to overturn the last election, but if we get complacent about the next one, he’ll have a real shot of winning.

Today, polls continue to show Trump as an overwhelming favorite to win the Republican nomination. So even as 78 (and counting) criminal charges against Trump work their way through our justice system, we all still have a responsibility to do whatever we can to make sure President Biden defeats him in the next election.

That’s why I’m asking, team: Can I count you to split a $20 contribution today between President Biden’s campaign and my fight to help Democrats retake the House majority?

It is clearer than it’s ever been that Trump’s actions are a grave threat to our democracy. And so are the the actions of his enablers in the House of Representatives — who stood with him in his efforts to reverse the 2020 election results.

I’ve been adamant from the day I launched my campaign for Congress that I will always stand up for the integrity of our democracy. I went toe-to-toe with an election denier in last year’s election — and I won.

But Kevin McCarthy and his right-wing allies would like nothing more than to replace me with a Trump yes-man in the next election — when it’s certainly possible Congress could be faced with another attempt to overturn the presidential election if Trump doesn’t like the outcome.

That’s why it’s so important that we get prepared now. Will you pitch in today and help Biden beat Trump — and help me defend this critical House seat so that I can continue to stand up for our democracy?

Thank you,
