We are now more than halfway through the first year of the House Republican majority, and we see clearly their priorities, their policies, and their politics. And we know they are out of step with the majority of Americans—including many Republicans.
I’m proud of all I was able to do for TX-07 and our country, including reintroducing bills to restore access to abortion care and protect the right to travel out of state for that care, as well as delivering funding for important TX-07 projects that improve our infrastructure and support Black maternal health.
Recently, we’ve seen House Republicans’ priorities in action in proposed spending bills and must-pass legislation. Rather than work to address real issues, they’ve added divisive and dangerous provisions to previously bipartisan bills to deny essential funds for residency programs in children’s hospitals that provide gender-affirming care, eliminate community project funding for LGBTQI+ community centers, and ban funding for reproductive health care for members of the military and their families. Yes, while American men and women in uniform fight for our freedoms, House Republicans are voting to take theirs away.
This is politics—not leadership. But it is what we see and will continue to see if House Republicans are in charge. House Democrats are fighting their bad ideas every step of the way.
What House Democrats can do right now is limited. But what we can do to take back the House is not. We can and must do all we can every day from now to next November so we can return to responsible leadership that’s focused on getting the things done that Americans want done.
And we know what that will be. We only have to look back to see what happens with House Democrats in charge: investments in and protections for America and Americans.
Together, we’re going to keep fighting for our values, our freedoms, and our fellow Americans—and that’s why I am so grateful you’re part of #TeamLizzie and for your time, energy, and contributions to our campaign.
Together, we can do anything,
