Justin Trudeau and our Liberal team have a proud record of standing up for 2SLGBTQI+ rights – and we’ll continue to fight with the communities for progress and equality, friend.
When it comes to standing with 2SLGBTQI+ communities and fighting for their rights, Pierre Poilievre record is clear: he voted against same-sex marriage in 2005, he won’t commit to marching in a Pride parade, and just this summer he posed for a photo with someone wearing a ‘straight pride’ shirt.
Meanwhile, Justin Trudeau reaffirmed our Liberal team’s unwavering support once again – after becoming the first Prime Minister to march in a Pride parade in 2016 – by marching in Charlottetown Pride this past weekend.
While Pierre Poilievre is pushing the same divisive tactics that we’ve seen from American far-right politicians, we’ll continue building a more inclusive Canada where we can all be who we are and love who we love.
Since 2015, Justin Trudeau and our Liberal team have kept Canada moving forward by:
- Investing in 2SLGBTQI+ community service organizations
- Banning the cruel and discredited practice of anti-2SLGBTQI+ conversion therapy.
- Delivering Canada’s first-ever Federal 2SLGBTQI+ Action Plan, that will guide the work of the federal government on the priorities of 2SLGBTQI+ Canadians.
- Health Canada authorized lifting the blood donation ban for men who have sex with men.
