Millions of US residents have long COVID, a condition that can affect many aspects of a person’s well-being. Last week, experts and advocates joined Urban to discuss new research on long COVID and the need for policies that address chronic illness and disability.
“These are facts and numbers that are being described, but behind the facts and numbers are human lives,” Meghan O’Rourke, author of The Invisible Kingdom: Reimagining Chronic Illness, reminded attendees. Alongside fellow panelists, she shared personal experiences with chronic illness, underlining the barriers to care and adequate support people often face.
Panelists also discussed research implications, and Urban’s Michael Karpman shared findings that further support the hardships adults with long COVID experience.
