Hi John,
Please join us in celebrating two excellent women at the helm of Womankind Worldwide, past and present.
Caroline Haworth

Firstly, we bid farewell to our CEO, Caroline Haworth who retired last month. Caroline has been a feminist force in the international development sector for over 30 years. She steered Womankind through a progressive transformation and laid the foundation for our fearless 2030 strategy.

She shares some thoughts on her career and her time at Womankind in a farewell statement available here. ([link removed])
“The greatest thing I have discovered is the rich alchemy between the indomitable optimism and joy of the feminist imagination…

…and the power and resilience to make change afforded by feminist collectivity.”

– Caroline Haworth
In line with our feminist leadership values, Caroline’s position will be taken up by two co-CEOs who will share the role. Three of Womankind’s experienced senior leadership team are stepping up as interim-CEOs to ensure we remain focused and on-track until the appointment of the Co-CEOs has been completed. They are Dinah Musindarwezo (Director of Policy and Communications), Disha Sughand (Director of Fundraising and Marketing), and Sarah Masters, (Director of Programmes and Learning).

Olga Ghazaryan

In another exciting change, we are delighted to welcome Olga Ghazaryan as co-chair of the Womankind Board of Trustees. She joins Ugandan lawyer and writer Twasiima P. Bigirwa ([link removed]) as fellow co-chair. Olga is a feminist and social justice activist with 30 years of experience in international development across 50 countries in the world. She’s held previous director roles with Oxfam, Norwegian Red Cross, and Water Aid.

We spoke to Olga about what drew her to feminism, and she shared how she witnessed social unrest and economic collapse in Armenia while growing up. ([link removed]) She also shared what motivated her to join Womankind at this point in time.
“I believe at a time like this when there’s been an erosion on women’s rights across the world, this is the opportune moment to power women’s rights organisations to advance gender equality.

Womankind sits right at the heart of this as an intersectional, progressive, and inclusive organisation.”

- Olga Ghazaryan
We’re proud of the Womankind community we have built over the last 33 years since our founding in 1989. A diverse circle of staff past and present, our network of grassroots women’s rights organisations and activists, and you; our network of supporters and generous donors.

We are an active and passionate hub of feminists from around the world unified by our commitment to achieving a just, equal and more equitable world for women, girls, and people of all genders.

Thank you for being part of our movement.

With best wishes,

Hannah Little
