John, our nation is facing an income inequality crisis and something has to be done. 

That's why my colleagues and I introduced the OLIGARCH Act – which will tax extreme wealth, reduce inequality and combat the threat to democracy posed by aristocracy.

But the harm doesn't stop there. Because, in addition to holding an absurd amount of wealth, the richest 400 people in the U.S. have 22,000 times the political power of the average American.  

These oligarchs are bending our democracy to suit their whims. They are blocking climate justice, racial justice, Medicare for all, student loan forgiveness, worker power and even getting out of paying their fair share of taxes in exchange for a few million dollars here and there – and we let them get away with it. Not anymore.

John, a democracy where the wealthiest 400 people can buy elections, politicians and even Supreme Court justices is not a real democracy. 

But the hard truth is that, even if we get the OLIGARCH Act through the House, it'll be a long shot to get this to the President’s desk – unless we have progressive fighters like me in the Senate.
