John, a growing mind is like a muscle – if a child doesn’t use it, it can grow weaker.
After a long year of learning, summer can provide a much-needed break. But summer isn’t always fair – especially for kids in rural America, like 11-year-old Leland.
Without regular access to books and math activities, children can lose two to three months' worth of reading and math skills over the summer. And research shows that summer learning loss during elementary school accounts for two-thirds of the reading achievement gap between low-income children and their middle-income peers.
Thankfully, with your support, Save the Children is working to Make Summer Fair through our SummerBoost Camp, which helps children in rural America fight summer learning loss. SummerBoost provides daily learning opportunities, skill-building, physical activity and healthy food options to give children like Leland the extra support they need to thrive.
Programs like SummerBoost Camp – and everything Save the Children does to help children overcome poverty, hunger, inequality and other hardships – are only possible through your generosity.
So today, we’re personally asking you to help us Make Summer Fair for kids like Leland: Will you invest in children’s futures with a compassionate gift of $30 or more to help provide the support they need to grow up healthy, educated and safe?
