John,
I want to give my heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated ahead of Monday’s end-of-month fundraising deadline. Not only did we meet our goal, July 31 saw more donations in a single day than any day aside from our launch day.
I’m humbled, John. With your help, our momentum is continuing to grow, and truth is, that’s
exactly what it’s going to take to flip this seat.
Yesterday's news gave us a clear look at what's at stake in our race. The Department of Justice has indicted former President Donald Trump. This time, over his efforts to stop the transfer of power after the 2020 election and for his role in the Jan. 6 Capitol attack.
As a reminder, my opponent Ken Calvert was one of the MAGA members of Congress who violated his oath and joined Trump’s effort to overturn the election. He voted against creating an independent commission to investigate Jan. 6, and even called for charges against those who assaulted the Capitol to be dropped.
While Calvert protected Trump, I was working alongside law enforcement to track down and arrest insurrectionists in my capacity as a counterterrorism prosecutor.
Unlike Calvert, I believe in the rule of law -- that's a big reason why I’m running to unseat him. We need a new generation of leaders who will put the country before party politics. And we need new leadership focused on fighting the battles for our future, not the former president’s battles over his past.
We have a long road ahead of us, and I'm thankful to have you by my side.
Will
