Friend,

Every year, Congress reauthorizes military policy and spending with the
National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). It’s typically a pro-forma (and
bloated) budget that flies through without much fanfare.

But this year, MAGA Republicans are attempting to use the bill to commit
hate crimes.

Representatives including Lauren Boebert have loaded the NDAA with
anti-Black, anti-LGBTQ+, and anti-abortion provisions that could have
implications reaching far beyond the military. That’s why Courage
California has joined with a coalition to demand that President Biden not
sign any NDAA that includes these hateful amendments.

Here’s just a sampling of what the House of Representative’s NDAA
includes:(1)

* Restrict service people’s access to abortion
* Close the offices of diversity, equity, and inclusion in every branch
of the military
* Bar federal funding for teaching about systemic racism
* Prohibit funding that helps support drag shows
* End efforts by the military to combat climate change

This isn’t a policy debate -- it’s an assault on human rights.

President Biden must veto any version of the NDAA that contains even one
of these provisions. He needs to hear from us if he’s going to be able to
wield the pressure needed to keep these amendments out.

that includes hateful amendments?

Thank you for joining the fight.

the rest of the Courage team)
