Since yesterday, more than 20,000 people have already signed this petition. Can you add your name and tell Big Pharma corporaitons to stop suing Medicare?
John,
A cabal of Big Pharma corporations is suing Medicare over the Inflation Reduction Act.
For the last two decades, Medicare beneficiaries were forced to pay any price that Big Pharma set for prescription medicines. But, on August 16th, 2022, President Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act into law and finally allowed Medicare to use its buying power to negotiate lower drug prices, just like every other insurer on the market does.
Big Pharma isn’t used to losing in Congress―and they freaked out.
Merck, Bristol Myers Squibb, Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Astellas Pharma US, PhRMA, and the US Chamber of Commerce are all suing the federal government in an attempt to protect Big Pharma’s price gouging and stop Medicare from negotiating drug prices.
Tell Big Pharma corporations: Drop your lawsuits and lower drug prices now!
Big Pharma knows that these are frivolous lawsuits. They’re dragging their feet to keep their outrageous prices in place as long as possible. They want to extract every last penny from the American people, and they don’t care how many people get sick or die along the way.
Health care costs already consume one-third of the average Social Security check, and that portion grows every year. High drug prices are a de facto Social Security cut. By lowering the prices of medication, Medicare negotiation will let seniors keep more of the benefits they earned over a lifetime of hard work. That’s what Big Pharma is trying to stop.
Social Security Works and our allies are delivering your petition signatures on August 16th, the one-year anniversary of the Inflation Reduction Act. Can you add your name today?
We’re putting together a big event that will get national press coverage, spotlighting the human costs behind Big Pharma’s greed. Your signature will make a huge difference.
In solidarity,
Alex Lawson
