Hello friend,
It’s 5pm and I’m adjusting the visor because I’m driving directly into the sun. It’s a spring evening, and I’m on my way from Annapolis, where I spent the day testifying at the Maryland House Environment & Transportation Committee on a bill to eliminate parking minimums near transit, to Rockville, where I’m going to testify at the Montgomery County Board of Education on school redistricting. I’ve brought a snack and a change of shoes in my car (walking around those brick-paved Annapolis streets in dress shoes *hurts*) and I’m blasting my playlist of songs with DMV place names [[link removed]] (loving “My PG County Summer” by Origami Angel rn).
It’s ironic, I think to myself, that I’ve put thousands of miles on my car since starting at Greater Greater Washington last spring, all in the name of helping people drive *less*. As the regional policy director, it’s my job to follow what’s going on across Maryland and Northern Virginia, even if it isn’t always easy to get there without a car.
It’s worth it: it’s invigorating to visit all of the interesting, unique places in our region, and to meet with the residents, activists, and elected officials–people like you!–who are fighting for more homes, reliable transit, and safer streets.,.

I don’t love sitting in traffic, and I’m grateful for the days where my travels take me to Metro-accessible places! But I know that because we have over 600 recurring donors [ggwash.org/neighborhood] who support this work, we’re a little closer to a future where people all over our region have more transportation choices.
