John, the best time to ban assault weapons was yesterday, the second best time is today.
As GOP lawmakers try to distract people with fabricated culture wars, they continuously neglect the real crises in our communities. It is our moral obligation as legislators and leaders to stop mass shootings and that starts with reinstating the assault weapons ban.
We must continue putting the pressure on legislators both in Congress and in our own communities to end the endemic of gun violence. If you stand with our movement, please add your name to our petition to urge Congress to prioritize our safety and reinstate the assault weapons ban.
As the GOP continues to push extremist and right-wing MAGA hatred and division, our communities will continue to be put at risk. We need to do everything in our power to support immigrants, poor people, trans children, not only from the wrath of Republican policies but from those who wish our communities harm.
Furthermore, our country’s lack of gun regulation is continuing to spread to other countries. The U.S. is the number one source of semi-automatic weapons in El Salvador, approximately half a million guns are trafficked to Mexico each year, and 70% to 90% of guns recovered at crime scenes in Mexico have been tracked back to the U.S.
Every action has a reaction, John. And our country’s lack of action on gun violence is having a wider impact than we could ever imagine. We cannot keep living this way. Add your name today to stand with Pramila and our movement as we continue shaking the status quo to fight for our safety and our future. We must ban assault weapons today.
In solidarity,
Team Pramila
