My name is Jen Schultz, and I’m running for Congress in Minnesota’s 8th District to bring much-needed change to Washington. Recent events in Congress have caused concern about the state of our government and the chaos unfolding in the GOP-controlled U.S. House of Representatives.

Lawmakers have left important work on funding the government largely incomplete, fueling worries about a potential shutdown this fall. This dysfunction is a direct result of the House Republicans’ inability to lead and work in a bipartisan manner.

The House GOP’s approach to funding has been anything but cooperative. They’ve added divisive policy add-ons, threatening essential healthcare access and promoting discrimination against veterans.

In stark contrast, the Democrat-controlled Senate has shown that progress is possible through cooperation, drafting spending bills with unanimous support.

My Republican opponent, Pete Stauber, only adds to the dysfunction in Congress. He and his colleagues have failed to pass basic legislation, allowing a small group of extremists to guide their actions.

It’s time to end this chaos. We need leaders who can bridge divides and put the needs of Americans first. I am committed to being that leader, but I can’t do it without your support.
