Fellow California Republicans,
We are in for a treat on Friday night at our upcoming Fall 2023 Convention, thanks to our confirmed dinner keynote speaker. I’m overjoyed to announce that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis will be our special keynote guest speaker on the CAGOP Convention stage at our Friday dinner!
Raised in Dunedin, Florida, Ron DeSantis worked his way through Yale University and graduated with honors from Harvard Law School. As a U.S. Navy JAG officer, he was deployed to Iraq in support of SEAL missions and was decorated with the Bronze Star Medal and the Iraq Campaign Medal. Following his military service, he served as a prosecutor in Florida and was elected to Congress in 2012, advocating for government accountability and fighting for the rights of veterans.
In 2018, DeSantis was elected as the 46th Governor of Florida. Amid challenging times, he stood firm in his beliefs, advocating for individual freedoms and enacting policies that safeguarded citizens and their rights. His tenure has been marked by significant legislative victories that have transformed Florida into a model state, covering a range of issues from job security to education reform. Under his leadership, Florida implemented the strongest medical freedom laws in the nation and made strides in preserving election integrity, among many other accomplishments.
DeSantis's impactful first term resulted in a record-setting victory in his 2022 re-election, winning by more than 1.5 million votes and turning previously blue counties red. As he embarks on his second term, he continues to champion conservative policies, signing measures for tax relief, medical freedom protections, and crime reduction. His dedication to his state has solidified Florida's position as a beacon of conservative principles. Married to Emmy-winning television anchor Casey DeSantis, Ron is a proud father to three children.
